The passing of Chauncy Glover, a respected KCAL News anchor, has sparked significant attention on social media.
Following his death on November 5, 2024, rumors began circulating on X (formerly Twitter) suggesting he had died in a car accident in Los Angeles.
However, this claim was unsubstantiated. According to his autopsy report, Glover passed away at his residence, though the exact cause of death remains unknown as it was marked “deferred” by the coroner.
Glover, originally from Athens, Alabama, pursued his passion for journalism with a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Troy University.
He built an illustrious career, contributing to stations like WTVM in Georgia, CBS 47 in Jacksonville, WDIV in Detroit, and KTRK ABC-13 in Houston.
Throughout his career, he was awarded three Emmy Awards and established the Chauncy Glover Project (CGP), a mentorship initiative aimed at supporting young men, particularly those of color.
Chauncy Glover spent eight years working at KTRK in Houston, where he made history as the station’s first Black male lead anchor.
In October 2023, he joined KCAL in Los Angeles, co-anchoring the 5 and 11 p.m. broadcasts with Pat Harvey and the 8 and 10 p.m. broadcasts with Suzie Suh.
Last month, he marked his first year at KCAL, a milestone he proudly shared on Instagram. Glover, a dedicated journalist, launched the Chauncy Glover Project while reporting at WDIV in Detroit.
This nonprofit organization focuses on mentoring young Black and Latino men, providing guidance and support.
