Georgia Wide Receiver Colbie Young Arrested for Battery and Assault

Colbie Young, a former Binghamton High School standout and current wide receiver for the Georgia Bulldogs, was arrested early Tuesday morning by Athens-Clarke County Police.

He faces misdemeanor charges of battery and assault on an unborn child.

According to reports, Young was booked at 4:18 a.m. and is currently being held without bond.

ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported that a 20-year-old woman, identified as Young’s ex-girlfriend, visited his apartment around midnight to discuss their relationship.

The situation escalated, leading to Young’s arrest. The University of Georgia’s athletic department has declined to comment further, citing the ongoing legal matter.

Colbie Young, who transferred from the University of Miami, has played in all five games for Georgia this season, recording 11 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns.

Despite his growing impact on the team, this arrest adds to the series of off-field issues plaguing the Georgia Bulldogs.

Head coach Kirby Smart had previously praised Young’s development, but this incident marks the seventh arrest of a Georgia player since January 2024.

The Bulldogs’ program has faced criticism over various incidents, including numerous vehicular violations, raising concerns about the team’s culture under Coach Smart.
