Doctoral Student at UTSA Found Dead Likely To be Suicide Case

A 33-year-old doctoral student at the University of Texas at San Antonio was found dead on Wednesday morning in the Bauerle Road Garage, located near the Main and Business Buildings.

According to university officials, the incident is being treated as a likely suicide.

At 10:21 a.m., UTSA issued a Facebook alert reporting a police presence at the garage and advising students to steer clear of the area.

Around 11 a.m., the university expressed deep sadness in announcing the student’s passing. This is the second suspected student suicide at UTSA since May.

On social media platform X, UTSA reiterated its warning to avoid the area due to heightened police activity.

In a statement, UTSA President Taylor Eighmy expressed sorrow over the loss, recognizing the emotional toll it may take on the community and encouraging students to seek available support services.

UTSA students can access counseling via Wellness 360, TimelyCare, the 24/7 crisis hotline at (210) 458-4140, the iConnectYou app, and the Employee Assistance Program.
