Nurlaila Masuku, BPOM’s Employee, Dies in the US

Nurlaila Masuku was recognized as one of the most dedicated employees at the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

Sadly, on November 11, 2024, it was reported that she passed away while working and pursuing her studies at the University of Southern California in the United States.

Throughout her career, Nurlaila was known for her hard work, enthusiasm, and responsiveness in every task assigned to her.

In honor of her dedication, BPOM organized a memorial ceremony for her.

According to a statement from BPOM RI’s Head, Taruna Ikrar, as cited by Tribun Timur, Nurlaila was regarded as an invaluable asset to BPOM, making significant contributions during her tenure.

“Her passing has left a profound sorrow within the BPOM family. She was a true asset to our agency,” Taruna expressed during the reception of her remains at the Human Remains Transit Lounge, Cargo Janazah, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, on Monday, November 11, 2024.

Nurlaila had recently completed her Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science at USC under an LPDP scholarship, despite battling health issues.

Taruna expressed pride in her resilience, stating, “Completing her studies in the U.S. under difficult health conditions was no small feat, yet she persevered.”

Additionally, he shared that BPOM’s HR Bureau had collaborated with the State Civil Service Agency (BKN) to request a posthumous promotion for her.
