What Is Dragonborn Breath?

Dragonborn Breath Weapons are a feature of the Dragonborn race in Baldur’s Gate 3.

The appearance and skills of Dragonborns result from their draconic ancestors, a humanoid species; one of these skills is the Breath Weapon.

These skills allow them to expel harmful energy in a specific shape and with a particular damage type, depending on their Dragon ancestry.

A Blue Dragonborn can Breathe lightning in a line, whereas a Red Dragonborn can Breathe Fire in a cone.

Dragonborn Breath Weapons are potent strikes that have the potential to do a lot of damage to several foes at once.

However, they do have some shortcomings and restrictions.

Dragonborns must save their Breath Weapon for the perfect occasion because they can only use it once throughout each short or long rest.

Additionally, depending on the Dragonborn’s level, the Breath Weapon’s damage does not scale with other variables, likeability scores or magic items.

Moreover, some foes might dodge or mitigate the damage from the Breath Weapon because it also needs a saving throw from the targets.

Types Of Dragonborn Breath Weapon

Baldur’s Gate 3 has five distinct kinds of Dragonborn Breath Weapons.

Dragonborns can use their Breath Weapon once per short or long rest, so they must choose wisely when to unleash their draconic power.

Each of them is associated with a particular Dragon ancestor and sort of damage, which are as follows:

1. Fire Breath

With this Breath Weapon, a Dragonborn can spew a cone of Fire that is 15 feet in diameter.

Dexterity saving throws are required, or the targets will suffer fire damage equal to 2d6 + the Dragonborn’s level.

2. Lightning Breath

A Dragonborn can exhale a 30-foot-long line of lightning with this Breath Weapon.

The targets must succeed at a Dexterity saving throw to avoid taking lightning damage equal to 2d6 + the Dragonborn’s level.

3. Acid Breath

This Breath Weapon allows the Dragonborn to exhale acid in a 15-foot cone.

The targets must make a Constitution saving throw or take acid damage equal to 2d6 + the Dragonborn’s level.

4. Cold Breath

This Breath Weapon allows the Dragonborn to exhale a blast of cold in a 15-foot cone.

The targets must make a Constitution saving throw or take cold damage equal to 2d6 + the Dragonborn’s level.

5. Poison Breath

This Breath Weapon allows the Dragonborn to exhale poison gas in a 15-foot cone.

The targets must make a Constitution saving throw or take poison damage equal to 2d6 + the Dragonborn’s level and be poisoned until the end of their next turn.
