They are a mix of ambassadors, traders, and adventurers as they play a vital role in expanding human territories.

Archetypes Of Rogue Trader In Warhammer 40k

Rogue Traders are known for their exploring and trading skills the most.

Therefore, each of them has individual skills which we call Archetypes.

There are 5 types of Archetypes of Rogue Trader in Warhammer 40k.

1. The Trader

Rogue Trader is a space merchant who is an expert in finding rare resources on different planets.

Always making friends through trade and looking for good deals which gave them the title of “The Galaxy’s Ultimate Shopkeeper.”

2. The Explorer

Explorer Rogue Traders are space adventurers who love discovering new planets and exploring new spots.

Bravery is in their blood as they have no fear in traveling to places where no one has been befomre.

3. The Diplomat 

Diplomat Rogue Traders are like space ambassadors, skilled in talking to different alien species and making friends.

Therefore, they are good at handling problems peacefully with a proper knowledge of the situations.

4. The Navigator

Having a Rogue Trader who is an expert at navigating through complex parts of space would be more likely a god gift for a traveler.

Hence, they use special psychic powers to guide their spaceship safely through the Warp which is known as the crazy space dimension of the game.

5. The Fighter

The Fighter Rogue Traders are known for their braveries and are called tough warriors of the game.

Therefore, they are always ready to defend themselves and their crew against any space monsters or enemies they might encounter.

Can Rogue Traders Change Their Archetype?

Unfortunately, Rogue Traders cannot change their Archetypes.

Archetype represents the core personality and skillset of a character.

Once an individual chooses their path, it becomes deeply rooted in their being.

However, Rogue Traders can upgrade their Archetypes as they level up.

Each of them can upgrade to one of three advanced Archetypes at level 16, and then to the Exemplar Archetype at level 36.

Why Rogue Trader Cannot Change Archetype?

In the game Warhammer 40k universe, Rogue Trader is a figure who follows the strict constraints of the Imperium of Man.

There are 3 reasons why Rogue Trader cannot change Archetypes.

  1. Tradition And Heritage: They often inherit their positions through bloodlines, passing down the mantle from one generation to the next.
  2. Established Identities: In Warhammer 40k, Archetypes are not just roles but identities that shape a Rogue Trader’s place. Hence, changing archetypes would mean erasing the identity.
  3. Political Stability: Rogue Traders hold power and influence within this system and their Archetypes come with specific political expectations and responsibilities.

The Bottom Line

The concept of unchangeable Archetypes has a depth of history in the Warhammer 40k.

Therefore, it’s important to note that Rogue Trader Cannot Change Archetypes for the reason mentioned above.

However, players are expecting a false alarm of the update that they can change the Archetypes which is wrong news as there is no mention of it.
