Four main objectives are always present in every contract:
1. Discover The Ghost Type
Discovering the ghost type is the primary objective of every contract.
You must use various tools and clues to identify the type of ghost you are dealing with, such as E.M.F. level, fingerprints, etc.
Generally, the game has 16 different types of ghosts, each with strengths and weaknesses.
Thus, you must select the correct ghost type in your journal before leaving the contract.
2. Capture A Photo Of The Ghost
Capturing a photo of the ghost is an optional objective that can earn you extra money and XP.
You have to use a photo camera to take a picture of the ghost when it manifests, appears in a D.O.T.S. projector, or hunts.
However, this can be tricky and dangerous, as the ghost might not show itself easily or attack you when you get close.
You can use cursed possessions to force the ghost to manifest or hunt, but be careful of the consequences.
3. Cleanse The Area Near The Ghost
This is another optional objective that can also help you survive.
You have to use smudge sticks to cleanse the area where the ghost is most active.
This is usually the room where you find the lowest temperature or the most evidence.
Further, smudging the area will prevent the ghost from wandering or hunting for a short period, depending on the ghost type.
You need a lighter to light the smudge sticks, and you can carry them in your hand or place them on the ground.
4. Prevent The Ghost From Hunting
This is the last optional objective that can also save your life.
You have to place a crucifix in the area where the ghost might start a hunt.
This is usually within 3 meters of the ghost’s favorite room.
If the crucifix is within range, it will stop the ghost from hunting and consume one of its charges.
Each crucifix has two charges, and once they are used up, the crucifix will burn and become useless.
Some ghosts have a more extensive hunting range than others, so you might need more than one crucifix to cover the area.
Join Speedrun Weekly Challenges
In Speedrun Weekly Challenges, you must complete a randomly generated mission quickly.
Significantly, you must use various modifiers that make the game harder or easier.
For example, you might have to find the ghost’s name, room, and type while dealing with increased sanity drain or limited time.
To join the Speedrun Weekly Challenges in Phasmophobia, you need to follow these steps:
- Launch the game and create a lobby.
- Head up to the main board to the right of the map board and interact with it.
- From there, select the difficulty of the hunt as if you will change it and scroll through the list until you find “Challenge Mode.”
- Select the challenge you want to try and start the game.
