Reason For Final Shape Delayed 2025

The developer of Destiny 2, initially were planning to release The Final Shape on February 27, 2024.

However,  it was delayed to June 4, 2024, for various reasons.

The main reason why The Final Shape is delayed to 2025 is that Bungie has faced mass layoffs in October 2023.

Further, it is estimated that 8% of the studio’s staff is cut. 

Significantly, Bungie wants to deliver an even bigger and bolder vision for the expansion.

As a result, this has affected the development process of the expansion, as well as Bungie’s next game, Marathon.

Bungie’s Saying On Final Shape Delayed 2025

Bungie states they need more time to polish the expansion and deliver a satisfying conclusion to the saga.

Moreover, Bungie announced that they are replacing the seasonal format of content updates with a new format called Episodes.

Episodes will consist of three Acts each, with new story content and rewards.

The first Episode, called Echoes, will launch alongside The Final Shape.

Further, the other two Episodes, Revenant and Heresy, will follow later in the year.

Moreover, Episodes will replace the seasonal model and offer more stories and rewards. 

Similarly, Bungie’s next game, Marathon, a remake of the classic sci-fi shooter, will follow in 2025.
