What Can I Use to Paint my Laptop?

Before we can classify the paints as safe and unsafe for use on laptops, we need to understand some criteria that make them safe or unsafe.

Some criteria like high VOCs and Flammable properties, etc., can make a paint unsafe for use.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs): Some paints have very high VOCs solvents, affecting the air quality.

According to research, VOCs, when emitted in the air, can cause breathing problems like asthma when exposed to painting high VOCs paint for even one hour.

Flammable Property: Highly flammable paints containing enamel, alkyd, and lacquer can burn even at flashpoints as low as 100 and 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

This can worsen the condition if your laptop is exposed to a mere spark of flame.

Some water-based paints can also contain formaldehyde or ammonia, which can cause eye irritation and are not the safest paints.

Moreover, spray paints are also not considered safe as they can contain gas propellants, propane, and butane.

According to the New Jersey Department of health, propane and butane are highly flammable and can easily catch fire when sprayed near fire sources.

Any paints with ingredients like cobalt, manganese, cadmium, chromium, and lead can cause side effects to the laptop and your health and should be avoided.
